Over the last couple of years, FCC has been preparing to expand our production of solar electrical power. Being good stewards of both the fiscal resources of the church and the environment are top priorities for our congregation, and the Trustees in particular. In 2024 using money from the Capital Endowment Fund and a generous gift from the Thomasson estate, we conducted an engineering review to verify the weight bearing capacity of the sanctuary and put on a new 30-year roof. The site is now prepared to receive racking and panels to expand our solar power production.

The next step of the project- PURCHASING AND INSTALLING 80 NEW PANELS ON THE SANCTUARY ROOF- requires enthusiastic support, and financial contributions from the congregation to move forward.

  • In 2018 we put solar panels on the Fellowship Hall. This array now produces 23 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.

  • The Sanctuary roof can hold 80 new panels and produce around 38 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.

  • Both arrays will allow us to generate ON-SITE nearly all of our current electrical consumption.

  • The addition of panels to the Sanctuary will save an estimated $320 dollars a month on all future electrical bills.

The total cost of adding the 80 panels to the Sanctuary is $52,000, or $650 per panel. Help purchase a portion, an entire, or several solar panels.
